Terpsichore

This is an ambigram design requested by a follower (from the Netherlands) on my blog. She had seen the "Georgia" ambigram and wanted a design in the same style. Here is her description of the word and what it means to her:

"In Greek mythology, Terpsichore (in Greek: Τερψιχόρη) "delight of dancing" was one of the nine Muses, ruling over dance and the dramatic chorus. She lends her name to the word "terpsichorean" which means "of or relating to dance". She is sometimes said to be the mother of the Sirens by Achelous. Her name comes from the Greek words τέρπω ("delight") and χoρός ("dance").
I [have been dancing] since I was 4 years old and for me it's not only a hobby but a way of life. For me Terpsichore would mean 'she who loves to dance'."

It was a great challenge. If you have any ideas for ambigrams, please leave a comment.

Fugue 5 woodwind quintet

This is a logo concept for my sister-in-law's woodwind quintet. They are called Fugue Five Woodwind Quintet. I am particularly pleased with the way that it turned out. The "g" and "5" combo was an interesting challenge and I feel that it is quite successful. I feel that it stays in line with the way ambigrams work in that it contains an illusion.

Yoda

Try not!

Do. . .

. . . or do not!

There is no try!

Jedi vs. Sith

This one is pretty obvious. Drawn with pencil. Imported into Illustrator and colorized.

FilkCast: Potter Style

Here is the logo for my podcast. Check it out on iTunes.

Hermione

Here is one for Hermione. Note: You can't spell Hermione without Ron.

Harry/Ginny

Here is an ambigram of my favorite HP ship. It's an asymmetrical ambigram. It is clear they were meant to be together.

Harry/Potter

Here is my Harry Potter themed ambigram. I am very happy with this one. Then it became a series from here.

Nora - Second ever ambigram

I am still drawing them completely at this point. They start getting better from here as I start to think about readability.

Cheryl - First Ambigram ever!

Here is my first ambigram. I always start with pencil and this early on, I created them completely on paper. It is later that I realized I could draw half and combine them in Photoshop or redraw them in Illustrator.
